Making a film like “Purple Mind” isn’t about showbiz and glamor.  It’s about telling a story that matters to people.  It’s about spreading awareness, in our case, about the difficulties of recovering from the effects of PTSD.  But as a friend reminded me this morning, 19,000 sexual assaults took place last year in the active duty military, and women who have suffered sexual trauma in the military experience deeply disturbing problems both during and after their service.

The David Lynch Foundation promotes the use of  Transcendental Meditation (TM) for working with PTSD and Military Sexual Trauma.  Here is Tara Jones Wise describing her experience with MST and TM.

Tara Jones Wise is a US Navy Veteran and the Executive Director of the National Women Veterans Association of America. She is also a victim of MST – military sexual trauma, which, she says, is “one of the most demeaning, defacing, deplorable things that an individual can endure.”
