CROWD FUND VICTIMS OF WAR 06/27/2012

Yesterday I learned of the most successful crowd funding campaign ever.  It’s on indiegogo.com, a campaign to raise $5,000 for a 68-year-old bus monitor named Karen Klein.  The accompanying video shows Karen being verbally harassed by a group of middle schoolers on their way home from Athena Middle School in Greece, New York. What’s amazing is that to date, the campaign has raised a whopping $661,488 and there are still 24 days to go.

Now, I applaud the world chipping in to give Karen a nice vacation after receiving such awful abuse from a bunch of out-of-control middle schoolers, but don’t you think such a staggering sum could be put to better use?  I mean, imagine what we here at Landfall Productions could do with $500,000.  We could make our film “Purple Mind” available for free to schools, libraries and PBS.  And, we could donate over 100,000 DVDs to veterans suffering with PTSD or at risk with thoughts of suicide.

I mean Karen Klein sure doesn’t have it easy with her middle-school bullies, but look at what our vets have had to deal with over the past ten years:
